One sentence summary: Light hearted and lovely. a wonderful debut!
Overview: Yinka is a 31 on year old single woman, living in South London and looking for love. Her Mum and Aunties are more than desperate for her to settle down, often publically praying for it. With another cousin engaged and her sister happily married and with child, the pressure is ever mounting to get her family off her back about her relationship status.
Personal Thoughts: Despite being in a relationship and being fortunate to never have that external pressure there was so much of this book I loved and related. Yinka has her heart set in the right place despite some bad decisions, wants to solve problems her own way and really make a difference in the world. A wonderfully relatable character to so many of us. The aunites had me smiling and giggling the whole way through, I loved the contrast in characters!
This book is for anyone with nagging family asking about relationships or for anyone still trying to figure this whole life thing out. Yinka was a wonder to read and I can't wait to see what Damilola Blackburn produces next.
Would I read it again? Definitely!
